“There is no moment of delight in any pilgrimage like the beginning of it.” – Charles Dudley Warner
We have a day and a half to tour Porto to get over the jet lag before we start walking north.
We visited the Livraria Lello is considered one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world. Although not as large as the wonderful Powell's in Portland, Oregon, it is spectacular to see. The bookstore was frequented by JK Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, when she taught English in Porto and is reported to be an inspiration for her writing.

We then detoured around the rally race and went to the main train station. It is decorated with 16,000 blue tiles with the history of Portugal.
The blue tile is famous in Porto. There are also three churches we saw all decked out in blue tiles.
